1194 It's only been several weeks but Sir Faucon has another murder to solve. A wealthy merchant, Bernart the Linsman, has been murdered in Stanruddle, in his own home. A hue and cry has seen the suspect receive sanctuary in the church. Much to the surprise of the populace it is Sir Faucon and not the sheriff Sir Alain who answers the call to pronounce the verdict.
Another well-written, enjoyable mystery in this series with its very likeable characters. ( )

Book 2 in the Servant of the Crown Mystery series. A medieval mystery. The characters are developing and the story continues from book 1. Having said that, I think you could read this book without having read the first. More murders to be solved with the help of two monks. Historical back ground is interesting without reading like a history book. ( )

This is the second book in the Servant of the Crown mystery series and our protagonist Sir Faucon is starting to get the hang of being the person to investigate crimes of murder. Once again his sense of curiosity doesn't let him just accept the murder at face value. And this proves to be fortuitous.

The sheriff is also getting a little tired of having the Crowner mucking about in his shires messing with his income, and power.

These are fast fun reads and make me appreciate the 21st Century conveniences and general freedoms and equalities many of us can take for granted. Looking forward to the next bool. ( )
