'Crosstown', the largest selection of Levitt's work ever published, confirms her importance as one of the 20th century's greatest photographers. From her iconic shots in Harlem during the '30s and '40s, to her stunning colour series from 1959 to 1960 and her surprisingly contemporary work from the '80s, 'Crosstown' showcases many of Levitt's now classic images, in addition to several little-known works that will surprise and delight even the most devout Levitt fans. Reveals her development as an artist and the evolution of NYC. With 44 full-colour and 131 tritone photos. Inga biblioteksbeskrivningar kunde hittas. |

The oversize book features Levitt's photos of street scenes in New York from the 1930's & 40's as well as from 1959 to the present. The photos are evocative in their ordinariness. They are also often funny. The later photos remind me of the New York City of my childhood while the earlier photos give a peek at the New York of my parents' generation. Great stuff.
