Love the book! ( )

This book is so cute! I absolutely love how the illustrations prove that things are necessarily as bad as they seem for Ike in obedience school. I imagine now what my dog would say if she could write letters. I bet it would be a hoot! ( )

This is a really cute book. The illustrations are particularly clever, with Ike's imagination in black & white, while reality is in color. My nieces (5 & 8) didn't seem to respond well to it the first time through- they didn't seem to 'get' the humor. But the second time we read the book, the whole thing sunk in and now it's a favorite. ( )

This is a very amusing picture book that I enjoyed reading aloud. The clever illustrations show the reality of Ike’s life at the canine academy versus what he’s describing in his letters to Mrs. LaRue. Using only grayscale for Ike's false descriptions in the letters helps young readers separate fact from fiction. ( )
