High-Caliber Holiday (First Responders) by Susan Sleeman
I normally don’t care for stalker type stories. I don’t like the way they mess with your mind, but Susan Sleeman blended enough action, romance and twists that I didn’t mind this stalker portion of the story. In many suspense stories I think I have the bad guy figured out but that is not always the case with Susan’s stories. I enjoyed getting to know these characters and visiting the characters from the previous stories. This is part of a series but each story can be enjoyed on its own. One thing I like about this series is seeing how this unit operates. They are a “well oiled” unit because of their professionalism and because they care for each other like family. I would recommend this story/series to anyone that likes suspense and romance.

If you’re like me, you want to read the whole series. The advantage of these books is you can read one or all of them and still really enjoy them. This is the first time I have found such helpful information on Amazon and I am grateful! These books don’t take long to read and you can share them with family or friends by either giving them their own copies or by word of mouth.
When I read High-Caliber Holiday, I was hooked as the tension starts from page one and goes all the way to the end of the novel. The sniper on the team is Brady who is finding his next shot hard to take due to a prior action shot taken in another situation involving another former servicemen. When he does he becomes entangled in the life of a young woman named Morgan whose response to be a captive and now finding herself with a slight wound but free tears at sniper Brady’s heart.
When Morgan returns home she finds that someone has been there, leaving roses and a note, but no sign of forced entrance. Morgan and Brady have pasts that they each try to tell themselves will prohibit them from having any hope of romance. As you read, not only does the tension between the two people become heightened, but so does the mystery as Morgan’s life is unraveling and threatened constantly!
I can’t wait to read more from this series! I love these Love Inspired suspense novels and look forward to seeing what comes from other authors as well as Susan’s First Responders books! Care to join me?

This romantic suspense starts out with, "The gun couldn't be real..." With a beginning like this, the reader knows he/she is in for a wild ride in which the author, Susan Sleeman,can push the pedal to the metal , causing the car of chilling intrigue to ratchet up quickly from 0 to over 100 mph. Hopefully, your seat belt is on for the crazy ride as we meet ex-lawyer Morgan Thorsby, who has defended her family's mill against a class action lawsuit. The lawsuit alleges that the mill has dumped poisonous pollutants into the nearby water, causing an abnormal amount of persons to contract virulent cancer.

When the First Responders get a call about a gunman on the train, sniper Brady Owens hesitates at the crucial moment. This causes him to feel responsible for the safety of Morgan,who finds herself inexplicably needy, yet pushing Brady away at the same time. Can these two work through the baggage from their past to work together to find the killer and stay safe, or will their being at odds make them a bigger target?

I love the way that the First Responders become a little more like one's own extended family with every book Susan writes. The suspense is always intense, always present, waiting to push itself into the foreground of even a relaxing time and shoot up the reader's adrenaline. I loved
being able to spend time with past heroes and heroines, and can't wait for the next couple's story. I only hope I have enough calmness to survive the book!!
