Skippyjon Jones in Mummy Trouble (utgåvan 2008)

I must be one the few, but I hate these books. The Spanish used throughout is often incorrect or characters just add an -o to the ends of words. It strikes me as ignorant and patronizing. The plot made no sense and the layout of the text made reading difficult. I wasn't sure where to start reading on certain pages. It does rhyme and I can see why people might like reading them aloud, but that doesn't make it good book. ( )

Skippyjon Jones, a Siamese kitten who thinks he's a Chihuahua, dreams of traveling to ancient Egypt with his gang of Chihuahua amigos.

I had a receptive listener, but reading this was quite fun. ( )

Summary: Skippyjon Jones goes on a hunt for some peas in the mummy tomb. He gets scared from his adventure.
Critique: Again, enjoyed this book. I think this series if very fun and interactive. The Spanish in the text makes the book interactive and fun.
Prompts: This would be a fun book to read if I were teaching about the tombs and mummies in Egypt. It would be a good relaxing book that would be a good end to the unit.

Another great book about the great Skippito! My students love the voices and singing and clapping. They get a big kick out of Skippyjon thinking he is a chihuahua! ( )
