Yes this is a kids book and it was easy to read, but I really liked the art. Not only the art was good, but the writing as well. This is not a reboot like I thought either. It's a continuation for McCay's original comic strip back in the 1900s. This Nemo and the other Nemo are not the same person either. The kid jokes that his middle name "Nemo" comes from a cartoon fish. For anyone who likes the comic book genre it's important to know who is Nemo. Not with this comic, but the original stuff. I've known about him since that cartoon movie and also Promethea, but this comic made me go back and read some of the older stuff which I just looked at before. Eric Shanower is one reason I got this book. I really liked his stuff he does with anything Oz. One of the few people I see who seems to follow the books better. It's funny he worked on Nemo because Oz and Nemo are very similar in various ways. I wonder if McCay and Balm were influenced on the same things since they were created in the 1900s (with Oz being older). I'm kind of disappointed this was only four issues though. Now I want more. With how this ended it feels like this isn't the only IDW Little Nemo book we will see. I hope they will make more. This is where I confess I have never read Little Nemo before. But as a reader you really don’t need to have read the previous book since it follows the princess as she is getting a new playmate, a little boy named Jimmy who happens to have the middle name of Nemo. Jimmy doesn’t want to be called Nemo and he certainly doesn’t want to play with a girl. Of course they have adventures and he changes his mind about never going back to Slumberland. A fun read even if it was rather short and the illustrations were just beautiful. I think I’ll have to track down the original and give it a shot. Digital review copy provided by the publisher through NetGalley Beautifully illustrated children’s fantasy tale I’m not familiar with the original Nemo comic strips but this homage is exquisitely and minutely illustrated by Gabriel Rodriguez. Written by Eric Shanower, it is a lot of fun. Nice Escher-inspired chapter in the middle. Thoroughly recommended to lovers of finely-executed work. inga recensioner | lägg till en recension
