After the first few pages felt this was pretty much another enjoyable but empty Patterson story. However after I got really into it was pleasantly surprised. While Patterson will never be, in my opinion, a good author or literary great he is one of the best story tellers. Yes, again this is a good story; refreshing mind candy and will please any fan of Patterson's books. Not the best Private book but still a decent read. It was good. I have a problem reading books that take place in France. I can't even pretend to be able to pronounce the names! This is one of the better Private books. Once again, there are two different storylines that Private is involved in. Jack is in Paris visiting Private Paris when a murder occurs. Private has been asked to investigate by the murdered man's widow. At the same time Jack is contacted by a client in the US. His granddaughter is in trouble in France and he wants Jack to find her and protect her. When a series of murders of cultural icons in Paris occur, Private is asked to help with the evidence and forensics. With lots of twists and turns, more murders and Jack putting himself in danger both cases are solved and Private comes out smelling like roses. There are some interesting characters in the story with various villians who have some warped ideas of what is right for France. Even though we find out relatively early who the bad guys are, the reason why they do what they do is what keeps the novel fresh and full of suspense. I enjoyed this outing of the Private series. inga recensioner | lägg till en recension

Someone is targeting the most powerful people in Paris--only Jack Morgan can make it stop. When Jack Morgan stops by Private's Paris office, he envisions a quick hello during an otherwise relaxing trip. But Jack is quickly pressed into duty after getting a call from his client Sherman Wilkerson, asking Jack to track down his young granddaughter, who is on the run from a brutal drug dealer. Before Jack can locate her, several members of France's cultural elite are found dead-murdered in stunning, symbolic fashion. The only link between the crimes is a mysterious graffiti tag. As religious and ethnic tensions simmer in the City of Lights, only Jack and his Private team can connect the dots before the smoldering powder keg explodes. Private Paris is heading toward the same fate. After 52% I skipped to chapter 100 and will "finish" it. This series doesn't do it for me, unlike his other series which I enjoy. (
