Questo libro, confezione elegante, elegantissima, è una vera delizia, una gioia per gli occhi, per il tatto, per il gusto. C’è tutta la forza di Bruce e della sua fantastica band, in queste novantuno pagine di rock. Il libro ripercorre le origini del Boss e della E street, partendo da Belmar, pigra cittadina sulle coste del New jersey, dove Vinnie Roslin, Danny Federici e Vini Lopez incontrando quello che sarebbe diventato il boss per definizione iniziano una storia destinata ad entrare nel mito. Ben presto arrivano anche Clarence Clemons e Steven Van Zandt. E a E Street si scrive la storia del rock dagli anni settanta in poi. Ma non è una biografia, per quanto album dopo album, Santelli dimostri grande competenza e capacità di sintesi; o meglio non è solo una biografia. Perché lo straordinario corredo fotografico ed iconografico, nel senso tecnico, ossia icone come i biglietti o i pass per i concerti e le fanzine fanno di questo libro un mezzo multisensoriale che non può mancare nella libreria di nessun fan di Bruce. Ottima anche la scansione temporale dei paragrafi, uno per ogni album prodotto con la E street, nel contesto gli altri, quelli fatti solo soletto tra cui, per intenderci, roba come Nebraska o Devils & Dust. Davvero un risultato straordinario per il più grande cantante e la migliore band che io abbia mai ascoltato; e questo libro riesce nel risultato incredibile di trasferire nelle sue pagine il carisma del boss.
