Although purportedly a biography of the artist Georgia O’Keeffe, I didn’t get a sense from this book for readers 4 and over of who O’Keeffe was or why she was so notable. The illustrations by Bethanne Andersen are lovely but don’t really evoke the desert to me. There is also no Author’s Note or timeline at the end to help readers fill in the blanks missing in the text.

Georgia O’Keeffe is one of the most significant artists of the 20th century, but you’d never know how or why from this book. ( )

Georgia's Bones is about a young girl who was always fascinated with the simple things like windows, holes, etc. She had a dream to be an artist when she grew up and that is exactly what she did. This novel could be very inspiring to people who want to chase a dream. I do not think the novel is that good. I do not see the reason or the end goal of it. I felt as if it maybe it would end with her getting an award or becoming known as one of the best, but it just ends with one of her drawings from a skeletal bone she got in New Mexico. ( )

This biography is very poetically told, which I found to match the feel of O'Keefe's work. This is an absolutely beautiful story about not only her life's journey but also the things that she was inspired by throughout her life. Makes me want to pick up a paintbrush and look outside. ( )

This book is a great biography about Georgia O' Keefe who is easily pleased by the world around her. She is interested in shapes, the outdoors, and the little things in life. She knew when she was young that she planned to be an artist one day. That is exactly what she did when she grew up, became an artist. This story gives hope to children to not pursue their dreams and do what they love! The illustrations are beautiful and easily engage the reader as well.

Review:This is a book about a little girl who finds her passion in different shapes. She would bring those common objects of different shapes home for those things brought her pleasure. She decided to become an artist and moved to New York, rent a studio and begin her work. She painted all the objects that she collected from all over the world with care.
This is a autobiography book because it illustrates the early life of artist Georgia O'Keefe. It is based on real person. ( )
