![]() Det finns inga diskussioner på LibraryThing om den här boken. Sometimes some self-indulgent humour is exactly what the soul needs. Adulting is hard, as the author points out in her cleverly constructed comics - pointing to the comforts that we find in the little things (cozy blankets & snuggle buddies), the foibles of being an introvert in a particularly extroverted world, and in the challenges (both good and bad) of being an artist as case studies that sum up her argument that being an adult is not all it’s cracked up to be. Yet, even while her tone is self-depreciating the reader can sense an underlying streak that is defiant to the judgements of the rest of the world. There’s nothing wrong with making up our own version of adulthood, even if it may seem to hark back to our younger days! ( ![]() I can relate to this so much On the one hand, I always feel like books of webcomics are a waste, because they're just right there on the Internet for you to see whenever you want, but on the other hand, Sarah just really gets me on a cosmic level, and it was nice to spend 45 minutes flipping through page after page of comics that speak to my very soul. YES. I think Sarah Andersen is me. She uses humor to show being an introvert with social anxiety, and her comics are funny and witty and true. inga recensioner | lägg till en recension

Adulthood is a myth confronts head-on the horrors, anxiety, and awkwardness of modern adult life. From the agony of holding hands with a gorgeous guy to the yawning pit of hell that is the wifi gone down to the eye-watering pain of eating too-hot pizza because one cannot stand to wait for it to cool down, Sarah fearlessly documents it all. Like the work of fellow Millennial authors Allie Brosh, Grace Helbig, and Gemma Correll, Sarah's total frankness on extremely personal issues such as body image, self-consciousness, introversion, relationships, and bra-washing makes her comics highly relatable and consistently hilarious.
