This book was a mythological book, This story begins with a barren queen being unable to have children. The queen asks the gods for a son. She received a son. The fertility goddesses decided that he was going to be killed by either a crocodile, a snake or a dog. The king locks his son into a tower away from the things that could hurt him. The prince decides to leave his tower to explore the world. He encounters a princess in a tower. ( )

In this legend, a prince is told that he will die either by dog, snake, or crocodile, and lives his whole life trying to avoid this terrible fate.Translated fairytale from hieroglyphs, but with a happy ending tacked on. Good for talking about Egyptian culture and the tales in them. Beautiful stylistic illustrations that look like the ones in the monuments. I love the hieroglyphs running across the bottom below the English text. Historical notes in the back of the book. ( )

This is a good example of a legend. The book was translated from the hieroglyphics from King Tut's reign, although the original characters are not known. This book would be great for teaching Egyptian culture and hieroglyphics. On each page, the hieroglyphics are translated into English, but if you knew a few symbols, you could follow along. ( )

Genre: Myth - This is a good example of a myth because it has a hero in the story. There is also some talk of religion and cultural background of Egypt. They also involved violent acts. It is a story that has been passed down and changed somewhat. It is narrated along the way as well. It is hard to find a myth, because they are similar to folktales.

Setting: The setting of this book could not of changed or the story would have made no sense. The myth takes place in Egypt and uses Egyptian culture, the setting has to be in Egypt and it works well there.

Art Media: Paint

Style: The imagery of this story was used very well, I could visualize things in the story that were not on the pictures and the illustrations.

Genre: this book is a good example of a folktale because it entails a simple plot of the prince trying to run from his fate, with fast paced actions.
Plot: plot of the story is an Egyptian prince attempting to run from his fate, all that he encounters and does in the story is in result of this fate
