This book s about a little girl, who is confused by her mom calling her nicknames, and using phrases like "see you later alligator." This book would be really good to read to kids with autism, or kids who have a classmate with autism. The book shows that sometimes people don't understand the metaphors or symbolism we use. I plan to read this to my future students. This family favorite uses colorful illustrations of a wide-eyed young girl to help children know who they are even when a parent uses terms of endearment to address them. This little girl is called chickadee, pumpkin, alligator, and more, yet she keeps reminding herself that she is Hannah. Finally, at bedtime, she declares that she is not a mouse but that she is Hannah! Her mother reassures her that yes, she is her lovely little Hannah whom she loves very much. Ages: 3-6 Source: Personal Collection We have all had times when our mother's have called us the wrong names, but this cute little book is about all the nicknames your mom can give you, and how they aren't the little girl's real name! It shows bonding, and I thought it was a cute story to pass the time, however I fail to see the value of teaching it in a class. inga recensioner | lägg till en recension
Mommy calls Hannah all sorts of names except her own, leaving Hannah to wonder if Mommy really does know who she is. Inga biblioteksbeskrivningar kunde hittas. |
