This book was recommended to me. I have never read a CoHo book, as I’ve heard the fans call them, but I admit, I couldn’t put it down. It was not because the content was happy, because it’s not, but the author did a really good job creating a realistic story working with the concept of “There is no such thing as bad people. We are all just people who do bad things.” It was both an easy read and a very emotional read as I know people who live this kind of life and have to make these kind of decisions and who are wonderful and strong people. To anyone I know who needs this advice, “JUST KEEP SWIMMING” ❤️ ( )

I'm reading this book because I saw the trail for the movie coming out late summer and I loved it. I don't read a lot from this author but being able to picture the characters faces from the movie has made this a very compelling book to read. I'm going to read the follow up book on this for the same reason and hope the movie is well done. ( )

When you think you’ve gotten it figured out then all of a sudden BAM! You have no idea what just hit you. “It Ends With Us” is a really emotional rollercoaster. This story is about Lily, a girl who has had a tough upbringing, and doesn’t like her past define who she is. Despite her difficult past, she remains optimistic about her future, which I find inspiring. She makes her way to Boston where “Everything is better in Boston.”. The story takes an interesting turn when Lily meets Ryle, who is a charming neurosurgeon with a magnetic personality and they fall in love but it’s not all smooth sailing.

This novel goes through hard times and shows it through the characters and how they are feeling and thinking, causing it to really enhance the feelings throughout the book for me as the reader. This was one of those kinds of books that one might start reading and they just can’t put down. It was a heart-wrenching tale following Lily, who is relatable and can be inspiring to readers. I really enjoyed reading this book and getting to not only know the characters, but getting to read both sides of the story.

The exploration of the cycle of abuse was one of the most interesting parts and aspects of the novel. As a reader, it forces us to confront uncomfortable truths and question our own perceptions when reading about the raw and honest portrayal of the cycle of abuse. It might be hard for those that have dealt with or even going through abuse to have to read about it. The author did a great job of perceiving cycles of abuse but also showing that those in tough situations, that they have the opportunity to change their way and that they can make choices for the better of themselves and even those around them.

While reading the book, I realized that no matter what someone is going through or what they have been through, that they can still be a good person. Lily went through abuse growing up, but that never stopped her from having a good heart, being inclusive and also finding the good in who people are and not for what they have. As she grew up and became an adult, she never changed her ways and was always considerate to others. Even if she was the one who was in the most pain, and needed the most help, she was always there for others and made sure everyone else was okay. She is inspiring to lots of people because she didn’t let the abuse around her define her and who she was, but let it help her grow stronger as a person.

I recommend the novel ‘it ends with us’ because the author does a good job of keeping the scenes interesting and giving little details that will draw you in and wanting to read more. While reading the book, it might be hard for someone that has dealt with or even going through abuse to read about it. Although abuse is covered in the story, the author does a great job of showing that life has bumps and bruises but it is possible to change your way and that you can make your own choices for the better of yourself and even those around you. This novel is a powerful story about resilience and making tough decisions, so I would recommend because it shows raw, true emotions, its emotional, though provoking and if someone were to love this book, there is also another book that goes along with this one called “it starts with us”, which means you can keep reading.

"There is no such thing as bad people. We're all just people who sometimes do bad things."

"The only thing I want out of life is success. Lots of it. But if I admit that out loud to anyone, it makes me sound arrogant."

Like most people, I had seen the hype around this book and heard about this shocking ending. Talk about disappointing. While I don't want to downplay someone being brave enough to leave an abuser, that wasn't really a shocking ending. I kept waiting for something massive to happen. Also, there are elements of the story that aren't very realistic. As someone who grew up in a household featuring a decent amount of domestic violence, I'm pretty confident that Lily wouldn't have taken many of the risks that she did when it came to Atlas, during their youth. She is unlikely to have risked giving him her father's clothes or let him in the house while others are there. And even if you want to argue that she wasn't worried about herself because her father (apart from the car incident) hadn't been physically abusive to her, that's true, but she wouldn't have created the risk for her mother. Because make no doubt about it, her actions, if found out, would have been taken out on her mother. I'll give Colleen Hoover two points though -- one for the way the self-doubting was portrayed and two for the car incident, it was pretty spot on in creating the tension that is felt in those situations simply by the atmosphere that is created rather than specific words that are said.

This was my second Colleen Hoover book and the other I really enjoyed, so I won't discard her completely. But when it comes to Lily's story, I've read enough. ( )

Such an amazing book. Colleen Hoover never disappoints. It Ends With Us is a story of abuse. So many have fallen victims of their spouses abusing them physically. We all wonder why they never leave. Colleen Hoover tells us in It Ends With Us and also that we do not have to suffer because of love. We all deserve much more. Read the book to know how and why people should leave abusive homes even when we are already deep in love. Thanks to the author. Such a book to make your day.
