Ingår i serienFirst Responders (#5)
Gillian "Gem" Martin is the lead biologist at a wildlife sanctuary on the Northeast coast and head of the Wildlife Emergency Response Team called in when catastrophes, man-made or natural, threaten the endangered species she studies. Austin Germaine is a troubleshooter, the hired gun for a big oil company, whose job is to help contain leaks and prevent media coverage of a pending disaster until the danger can be eliminated. If it can be. When Gem and Austin meet by chance in the midst of an approaching hurricane, neither expects their immediate connection to lead them into uncharted territory as wild as the looming storm. When word of the spill gets out, Gem and Austin find themselves reluctant allies in a race against time to divert the spill and save the wildlife refuge and its endangered inhabitants--all while battling an attraction as unlikely as it is powerful. A high-stakes race against time, the forces of nature, and the strongest power of all--the desire of the human heart. A First Responders Novel Inga biblioteksbeskrivningar kunde hittas. |

There's Gem, she's a lead biologist at an Eastern Coastal wildlife sanctuary. And Austin, she's a troubleshooter/hired scientific gun for an oil company, General Oil and Petroleum, GOP. I'm not sure if that was on purpose or not, but every time I read GOP in the text I cracked up just a little bit.
Gem and Austin meet when there are no cars left to rent and they're both going the same way. But, while Austin finds out who Gem is and what she does, Gem only gets to know part of who Austin is at first. O course, that provides a delightful tension to the novel since we the reader know who everyone is.
I also liked the secondary characters in this novel. Gem's sister was a super interesting character (*cough sequel? cough*), as was the meteorologist, Claudia, for the GOP. As well as Gem's friend Emily. Ooh-- ooh, and the turtles, I almost forgot about the little teeny turtles. I did want more about the turtles, what can I say, I'm a sucker for turtles (and tortoises) of all kinds.
It was a good book, and I definitely enjoyed another novel in this series.
I got this advanced galley through Netgalley on behalf of Bold Strokes Books. ( )
