Expansion of a TED talk, interesting but not a ton of new information. Good overview of the subject though so maybe worth the read. ( ) Disappointed by this book. Most, if not all of the information in this book I had already read in some form or other (possibly in Ariely's book, Predictably Irrational). Additionally, this seems to be directed primarily to owners (maybe managers) but not really to workers. In fact, I found the presentation to be depressing (things would be great if the people in control -- definitely not you -- were to do these things) and also unnecessarily negative and dismissive of other possibilities besides the binary results of their studies. I received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher via netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Thanks! inga recensioner | lägg till en recension
"Payoff investigates the true nature of motivation, our partial blindness to the way it works, and how we can bridge this gap. With studies that range from Intel to a kindergarten classroom, Ariely digs deep to find the root of motivation--how it works and how we can use this knowledge to approach important choices in our own lives. Along the way, he explores intriguing questions such as: Can giving employees bonuses harm productivity? Why is trust so crucial for successful motivation? What are our misconceptions about how to value our work? How does your sense of your mortality impact your motivation?"--Baker & Taylor. Inga biblioteksbeskrivningar kunde hittas. |
