This creative book told a story about all the woodland creatures that are out there as they get ready for a good night’s sleep. The story is told poetically about real life resting places for these animals and all about their dreams. This book is all about dreams and what do people dream about at the end of a busy day. I really liked how the illustrations to this book looked like someone hand drew and colored each illustration. I believe this made the story more interesting to the reader. ( ) The "Little Dreamer" is asking animals what they dream of at the end of their day. She asks a snake, deer, newt, rabbit, mouse, and a turtle if they dream about what they did during the day. This book is in poem form. The author starts by addressing each animal, like "Little Snake," and lists two "ing" verbs that they did that day and follows with "the play." The author, Rita Gray, then describes where the animals go to seek shelter for the night. She then lists some activities the animals could have done that day, and they are all very imaginative. Each animal ends with the same stanza. For example, "Sleep, Little Snake, safe and warm. Dream until the light of morn." At the end of the book, the author addressed the "Little Dreamer" who has been questioning the animals and their dreams. She falls asleep and dreams of all the animals coming into her bedroom to join her in slumber. I think this would be a good book for science class. It lists many animals and their habitats. It is a sweet and calming book that would capture the attention of kindergarden- 3rd grade. I enjoyed the illustrators simple but beautiful drawings. inga recensioner | lägg till en recension
