En una remota estación polar estadounidense en la Antártida, un grupo de científicos ha descubierto un objeto atrapado en el interior de una capa de hielo de cuatrocientos años de antigüedad. Parece ser el artefacto de metal... que no debería estar ahí... y por el que mucha gente estaría dispuesta a matar. Un equipo de marines estadounidenses, con el enigmático teniente Shane Schfield a la cabeza, se dirige a la estación polar para proteger tan extraño hallazgo. Sin embargo, otros países quieren apropiarse de él y harán todo lo necesario para conseguirlo. If you like action movies, while enjoying the discussions regarding the complete lack of realism of scenes, plot and just about everything else, you're in for a treat :-)
Suspension of disbelief is strongly needed throughout the book, but it's a fun read. It's good to unplug your brain, every now and then. ( )

Lieutenant Shane ("Scarecrow") Schofield, leading a crack team of U.S. Marines is rushed to an ice station in Antartica to secure the station's discovery of what may be an extraterrestrial spaceship. However, French special forces and then British SAS troops attack to secure this prize. Meanwhile, there are traitors everywhere, also working against Schofield and his team's efforts. This is truly pulp fiction, where belief has to be suspended. Schofield and a small pup seal named Wendy are the highlights of the story. ( )

First suspend all your disbelief and critical thinking, switch off most laws of nature, buckle up real tight, and enjoy the adrenaline. I give it one and a half stars for the story, one extra star for the completely bonkers exhausting ride. By God, I'm probably even going to the next book in the series.
