Some poor characters who just don't seem to get any slack but it all works out (to an extent) at some point. After reading this the first time many moons ago I immediately started the hunt for the following book(s) afraid to leave the characters unattended for too long. Couldn't put it down! Relieved the journey didn't stop. I really enjoyed this book. I've read it several times I liked it so much. This novel is set in the Forgotten Realms, a game world for the Dungeons and Dragons game. The setting was invented by the author, Ed Greenwood, and it really shows in his writing, as his creation of the world down to the smallest details is complete and complex. A young girl discovers she has a very unique power. She can hurl magical power without casting spells, something normally impossible in the Forgotten Realms. This power immediately makes her a target for a number of factions wanting this power, and leads her and some powerful new friends on a very improbable adventure. If you enjoy fantasy fiction, especially Dungeons and Dragons based fantasy, you should enjoy this book. If you are a rules purist, just ignore the Dungeons and Dragons background and enjoy the story. inga recensioner | lägg till en recension

I've not read much else in this series - which I understand is very good - but obviously I have enjoyed this trip into the Forgotten Realms. I don't think I can write much about the story without spoiling it. So I will leave it at this, If you have a chance to pick this up and read it - do so. I don't think you will regret a moment spent on this adventure.
please note my affection for this novel stems from my early teen years. I don't apply the same stringent criteria to it as I do other items read as an adult. You have been warned ( )
