This book is a valuable tool in the classroom for several reasons. The first being the fact that each page has a different number from one to ten. I love this aspect because as a teacher this is a perfect way to incorporate math into a reading lesson. I also like that each number has a tab that can be lifted because this keeps the readers attention and gets them excited to see what comes next. This book would be useful for ell students because they are able to engage in physical responses by opening the tabs and the bright colors keep their attention to the book so even if they don't understand each and every word they can still associate the pictures and colors with the text. Finally I like that the book is something that the students can relate to. Many students take the school bus or at least sees a school bus each day so they can relate to the book and have some small idea of what the book is about. Sarah Durkin Professor Martens EDUC 417 22 March 2016 Reading Log Entry #19: The Wheels on the Bus Go Round and Round by, Annie Kubler I enjoyed reading this book for three main reasons. First, the book had cut outs on each page. The book counted to ten and each page had a different number, but while flipping through the pages something new was cut out each time. Readers are looking forward to what part of the bus or what part of the illustration will be cut out next. Second, I liked how colorful the book was. There were a lot of bright and vibrant colors that can catch a reader’s attention and draw them into the book. Not only was the bus bright yellow, but everything else around it was bright too. Finally, “The Wheels on the Bus” is also known as a song that children sing. Having the lyrics written out in a book format engages readers to read or even sing along if they know the song. This shows that there are many different ways to write a story. The overall message of this picture book is for readers, especially students, to notice be able to identify things on a bus. For example there are wheels, windshield wipers, windows, and people. After reading this story anyone would be familiar with the parts of a bus. inga recensioner | lägg till en recension
