Excellent resource for organizing a fast-paced, busy life. Implementation of only one or two of the dozens of ideas is VERY helpful. ( )

Working through this process has already made significant changes in my productivity and confidence in tackling projects at home and work. Focus is on organizing everything in your life into actionable tasks, so things don't constantly occupy your mind. The author believes this leads to less stress. Check back in a couple years, and I will let you know if I have kept to the grindstone and found less stressed. ( )

A lot of my friends have read this so I'd heard a lot of it before. Finally getting around to reading it did help push me toward organizing some of my to do lists (I use Google Keep for my lists) into better categories: "things to do around the house", "things to do at a computer", "things to consider buying", etc. and pushed me toward actually looking at them sometimes (usually not til after I've done several of the things, but then I can check them off and be reminded of other stuff I'd thought of before).

It also made me realize that when I set reminders for myself to do things at specific times when it's not actually important for the thing to happen at that time, I'm setting myself up for failure when the notifications actually are time sensitive: I've trained myself not to take the reminder notifications seriously. Unfortunately I don't yet have a habit of sitting down and looking through my to dos regularly, so I still sometimes set the reminders, and then try to either do it when I see it, or re-set the reminder for a later time when I think I'm more likely to actually be able to do it.

I've also started doing a better job of identifying and writing down next steps vs. final goals (i.e writing more specific things like "ask person Y about Z to advance project X" rather than "finish project X"). ( )

First of all, I don't think I'm the intended audience for this book to begin with; I think the intended audience are corporate leaders of big companies (that's what I got from the examples anyway). With that being said, I'm sure this would work for some people (seems like it would be a good fit for type A personalities), but I don't think most of this would work for me. Way too many lists to keep track of. The two things I will take away from this are the weekly reviews and being more specific about the next action step I need to take. Also, if it wasn't for the audiobook I probably would have DNF this one (almost did even with the audiobook), it's just a super dry read.

It is simply the best personal productivity book I’ve ever read, and there’s material in this book that can apply to anyone’s life, whether you’re a manager or a writer or a professional or a stay-at-home parent.
