Biography & Autobiography. Politics. Nonfiction. HTML:

Whether it's asking tough questions during a presidential debate or pressing for answers to today's most important issues, Megyn Kelly has demonstrated the intelligence, strength, common sense, and courage that have made her one of today's best-known journalists, respected by women and men, young and old, Republicans and Democrats.

In Settle for More, the anchor of The Kelly File reflects on the enduring values and experiences that have shaped herfrom growing up in a family that rejected the "trophies for everyone" mentality, to her father's sudden, tragic death while she was in high school. She goes behind-the-scenes of her career, sharing the stories and struggles that landed her in the anchor chair of cable's #1 news show. Speaking candidly about her decision to "settle for more"a motto she credits as having dramatically transformed her life at home and at workMegyn discusses how she abandoned a thriving legal career to follow her journalism dreams.

Admired for her hard work, humor, and authenticity, Megyn sheds light on the news business, her time at Fox News, the challenges of being a professional woman and working mother, and her most talked about television moments. She also speaks openly about Donald Trump's feud with her, revealing never-before-heard details about the first Republican debate, its difficult aftermath, and how she persevered through it all.

Deeply personal and surprising, Settle for More offers unparalleled insight into this charismatic and intriguing journalist, and inspires us all to embrace the principlesdetermination, honesty, and fortitude in the face of fearthat have won her fans across the political divide.

Settle for More:

Chapter 1:

1. Be whoever you are- Mr. E. Kelly Be who God made you to be. Be the real authentic version of yourself. Fully.
2. That person may (or may not) be extraordinary- Mr. E. Kelly. You are extraordinary with God. Make your simple days and experiences extraordinary.
3. We’re not going to lie to make you feel better- Mr. E. Kelly Do not lie to make anyone feel better. You are hurting their feelings and they will lose their trust and confidence in you over time. Tell the brutal honest truth no matter what. Tell it strait. Hide nothing from your parents or your aunt. Or your care team. Apologize to those you need to and move on. Stop bringing the issues of others and their personalities onto yourself. It is not your concern. It is not you. Unlearn that. Leave people be. Live your own life in your own way. Build your own life filled with your hobbies and interests. And not of someone else’s.
4. But we’ll love you no matter what- Mr. E. Kelly Love your parents fiercely no matter what. Have a strong bond. An unshakable bond with them. Prioritize your relationship with them above all. But focus on yourself as well. Prioritize your care as well. Prioritize your relationship with yourself as well! That is even more important. Treat yourself with honor, love, and respect.
5. “You don’t seem that special so far, but we don’t care.”- Mr. E. Kelly It does not matter if you are special or not. Just be uniquely you. That is enough. Stop trying to please others. Please yourself and God. Only.
6. You are nothing remarkable and that’s okay worked very well for me- Megyn You are nothing remarkable but you have accomplished great things with God and your poetry and learning and growing daily as God refines you like silver and moulds you like clay into His Steward of Joy and Positivity and Light. So just because others do not accept you or do not understand you does not mean God does not.
7. My attitude started with my parents. I lived simply and honestly because they did- Megyn Live simply on chocolate and a water and a milkshake. Live honestly and tell the truth no matter what. Even if it means having to end relationships because people would rather not acknowledge their error and apologize due to true remorse. But only due it because they were told to. You do not need those negative and toxic influences and people in your life. Including family members. Nip it in the bud. Cut them off. Do not maintain relationships just because you are forced to with family. No one gives a shit about anyone else anyways. Why should you invite them into your life to dictate how you should live yours when they cannot live theirs at all?
8. My father never had a harsh word for me- Megyn Neither does mine! He loves Mr dearly. No matter what he always makes time for me despite his schedule and I reassure our relationship immensely. I love him dearly. I support him no matter what. I encouraged him I motivate him. But I also tell him the truth even if he does not like it. He still appreciates it. He is always the first person I call when I need anything. Not because I am lonely. But because I need his wisdom without the bullshit. And he gives that without pushing his ideas on to me as to what I should do. He always lets me make my own choices. Always. I love him for that. I trust him implicitly.
9. He taught me to value education and faith, and he made me believe that what I had to say mattered, regardless of whether my siblings agreed- Megyn Value your education through reading books. Value your faith and the sanctity and beauty of it. What you don’t say matters. Because the more you see the less you speak, the less you speak the more you understand. The more you understand the more people trust you and treat you with respect because you are counted as wise and it forms a beautiful relationship between the both of you. You learn a lot more about people when you do not talk than when you do.
10. She’s tough at times, but she’s always in my corner- the way she has been my whole life- Megyn My mother vid tough but I know she is my biggest fan alongside my father. They both have always been in my corner from the get-go, My father nurtured our bond by agreeing to speak with me over the phone every day. My mother and I communicate through music and Biblical morals. It works. They accept my style as I unlearn unhealthy unwanted behaviors and relearn my true behavior, my true nature, and my true personality. Whether I talk or do not they accept me and love me as Christ sees me. They know I can do better. They know I can achieve better. And with their unwavering love and support I can!
11. In my family, we are proud of and kind to each other, but we often show our love not by being falsely polite, but by letting our guard down and saying what we really think. Say what you think to your parents in a respectful tone. But also always be respectful and not bigheaded over your accomplishments. Or theirs. Just remember be nice and the world will be kind to you.

Biggest Takeaway:

Do not compare your achievements to another. Also maintain positive and healthy relationships and your honesty above all.

I heard an interview with Megan Kelly--with Terry Gross, I think--and found her interesting, so I decided to listen to her audiobook. I had heard of Megyn over the last year, but I had been so busy with other things that I didn't really register her story. While she gives a full description of her life, it was in large part centered around her year-long feud with Donald Trump. That part was fascinating. There rest of the book was a bit overstretched--too many chapters were spent detailing how she met her husband and bragging on her kids. All in all, a decent listen. Megyn did an excellent job reading for the Audible version. ( )

This was an amazing book. To be honest I know very little of Megyn Kelly and don't watch the news very often but picked this up because my dad holds a lot of respect for her.

I listened to this in audiobook format and loved it. For somebody I know very little of, I identified with her a lot in many ways and respect her bravery in being open about so many things. Highly recommend. ( )

I have felt that Megan Kelly won the genetic lottery in physical appearance, IQ and raw talent. Little did I know just how hard she had to work to become the success person that she is. Her loving family and the early death of her father helped shape who she became. She completed law school and practiced law for ten years. Because of long hours and feeling unfulfilled, she then switched her career path to become a cable TV personality and journalist. After a failed marriage, Megan met another man who she would marry and focused on being a wife and a mother of 3 children. Megyn Kelly gives an open honest look into her life. She reveals exactly who she is, what she wants, what she won't allow, her dreams, passions, and flaws. Her genetic- lottery win did not exempt her from some very difficult roadblocks which she explains with honesty and humility. I was surprised at her penetrating point of view concerning human relationships. The unveiled portrait of her life inspires the young to never sell themselves short, never underestimate the importance of the power of hard work and personal evaluation of priorities. I grew to like her more after reading this book because of her honesty and courage. This is a motivating read for younger and older women alike. ( )
