Seguimos con Capitana Marvel, en general la historia ha ganado en epicidad pero no la he sentido tan cercana como en el volumen 1. Aunque eso no quita que cada vez me esta gustando más el personaje. ( )

A series of escalating attacks is sent against Captain Marvel and the Avengers. Then there's a random space battle. And an anarchist girl fights an evil bank.

2.5/4 (Okay).

The first story (6 of 12 issues) is a lot of fun, although it's a little annoying that it has constantly revolving artists. The second "story" (4 issues) is Crossover Event garbage. And finally there's a two-issue Spider-Man story from back in 2012, which really belonged in Volume 1. Comic book editors seem to take delight in alienating and confusing readers. ( )

Captain Marvel quickly became my favorite ongoing series of the Marvel Now launch. The writing was just incredible and the character has truly come into her own. I originally read these issues in June 2014, but was glad to add this trade collection to my library, especially since it includes additional issues of Avenging Spider-man to flesh out the story more.

This volume concludes Carol’s 2012 run and it crossed over with the Avengers Assemble series for the “Avengers: Enemy Within” storyline. The story follows directly from CM issue 12 – a lesion is growing in Carol’s brain that may eventually hemorrhage and destroy her memory, her very identity. Flying makes it worse, or course. As if that weren't enough, an enemy from her past has orchestrated a plan to destroy her and rule Earth. While the Avengers battle against Yon-Rogg’s sentinels, Carol realizes that she is the key. What he wants lies within her very mind.

The action was off the charts, but that doesn't overshadow a carefully constructed plot that will change Carol forever. I love how DeConnick writes Carol. Readers are privy to her innermost thoughts as the story progresses and we see who she is, who she loves, and what she fears. We get to see just why she deserves to be an Avenger and why Captain America trusts her so implicitly. In fact, many of my favorite scenes throughout the series feature these two working together. I hope to see more of that in future. n

Overall, I cannot recommend this series enough. The writing is superb and the artwork suits the story being told. ( )

When we left off at the end of the last book, Captain Marvel had just been diagnosed with a legion on the part of her brain where her powers come from. She was told by the doctors that she was not to fly or the legion would grow. She would ignore it and find that she would have trouble flying, so she gave it up and the Avengers came through and gave her a vehicle to fly with. Unbeknownst to her the Kree who was there when she got her powers and supposedly died, the evil Yon-Rogg, is the one who sent Deathbird to attack her and wear her down.

While Captain Marvel and the Avengers are kept busy tackling evil cohorts and dinosaurs in the quest to find an elderly homeless woman that is a friend to Carol, Yon-Rogg breaks into her apartment and steals the piece of Kree technology that gave her her powers. She has no idea who could have stolen it. Her neighbor has a camera in the hallway since he's trying to find stuff to get her kicked out of the building. So she makes a deal for the tape. Carol has her friend Wendy, a compuer whiz, look into the tape.

Meanwhile, Kree metal warriors that had been placed on earth many years ago are coming up everywhere. The Avengers and S.W.O.R.D. head out to take care of them. But there are too many of them. After calling the Kree homeworld, Yon-Rogg has a devious plan in place and he needs Captain Marvel to complete it. How will they get out of this mess?

The book contains three other stories one about a new villain, one about a huge battle in space against a great foe, the builders, who created the universe and now intends to destroy it causing everyone in the universe to band together as one to fight them, and one involving the Amazing Spider-Man. This is a fabulous book. Carol is not the same after her encounter with Yon-Rogg. She loses her memory and it's interesting to see how she reacts to those around her and in battle. Without her memories has she lost what it means to be human? While in the previous comic when she became sick the artist used a sketchy form to draw her, in this comic most of the artists use strong strokes to draw her to show her drawing upon her strength. This really is an incredible book and I can't recommend it enough. ( )
