Titus Returns by Amy Lillard is the latest Wells Landing Romance Novel. Titus Lambert is returning to Wells Landing, Oklahoma after being gone for five years. Titus has just been released from prison after serving five years for second-degree manslaughter. Two people died in the car accident that night and one man will never walk again. Titus had been courting Mandy Yoder before the incident. Mandy assured Titus that she would wait for him to return home. Mandy waited one year before she started going out with Levi Burkholder. A year later they were married. When Mandy sees Titus, she knows she made the wrong decision. But the Amish marry for life. There is only one way they could be together, but would Titus take another man’s wife? Titus is not sure if he will be able to fit back into the Amish community, but he does not feel at home in the Englisch world either. One thing Titus feels compelled to do is make amends to the King family. They lost their son, Alvin in the car accident. Alvin was Abbie’s twin brother. Life has not been the same for Abbie since Alvin passed away. Both of her parents have succumbed to depression and her father has taken to the bottle. This leaves Abbie doing the housework as well the farm chores. The King family runs a dairy farm. But things have become rundown (Abbie can only do so much). Titus sets out to help the King family and starts doing repairs (despite the objections of Abbie). The two of them start spending time together as Titus helps Abbie with her plans for the farm. It also leads to Titus to start making plans for his future. Feelings develop between Abbie and Titus, but Titus has a secret he has yet to reveal. What choice will Titus ultimately make? Will Titus get his second chance at love? Titus Returns is a sweet and heartwarming story. The novel is well-written, easy to read, and has a good pace. While Titus Returns is part of a series, it can easily be read alone. The book deals with alcoholism, depression, forgiveness, love, trust, betrayal, secrets and second chances. I give Titus Returns 4 out of 5 stars (I liked it). Titus Returns is a great way to spend an afternoon (great change of pace). I liked the addition of the camels and Titus’ plans for the future (I cannot include everything in the summary). I look forward to the next book by Amy Lillard. As you see by reading about this book, Titus has returned from jail, still full of guilt, and feeling that he has wronged everyone in his community. He decides to put his guilt to a purpose he takes it upon himself to help the Kings, Alvin had been his best friend, and his twin Abbie has not been able to forgive. We see the consequences of others actions here, and what a reminder, and unfortunately the domino effect of how so many lives are touched. Now he has to face his demons and ask his Amish Community for forgiveness, part of their faith, easy to say, but hard to do. Just when I felt the book was wrapped up, wow, a whole new set of problems show up, and this time, I felt that maybe the real catalyst for his leaving has presented itself. This book is really going to make you think, and is very unusual as you we don’t hear of Amish in prison, and the mind pictures of that is hard for me to conjure. This book is going to make you think, enjoy! I received this book through Net Galley and Kensington Publishing, and was not required to give a positive review. With every word I read, I became more engrossed in the story. The authors details of the land is breathtaking. It is one of the best stories I've read about forgiveness in awhile. What if you were blamed for a tragic accident ? Could you ever forgive yourself and accept the forgiveness of others? For many of us, it isn't so much about being forgiven as it is being able to forgive yourself. Titus has come home to Wells Landing after a long five years away. He is a changed person and a little hesitant to be home. His five years away were hard, but he felt he deserved the punishment he had gotten. Can he feel welcomed back home? Has everyone forgiven him? I loved the way the author wrote how Titus was anxious and a bit uncertain how he would be received back in his community. We all have done something we regret and for Titus the shame has stayed with him for years. I love stories about second chances and this is one that really has depth and and opens the door for repentance. I'm sure that I would have butterflies in my stomach if I was in Titus's shoes. The beauty of the story is how the author took a character and showed us his internal struggles with realism. For some in the community they seemed to be a bit surprised that Titus would come home. It is not easy to admit your mistakes, but when you allow God to show you the way home, nothing is impossible. I need to mention Abbie because she plays a very important role in the story. I loved her from the moment the author introduced her. She had a hard time accepting Titus back home and the author allowed the character to work through grief and come to terms with her loss. The story is heart wrenching at times and the emotions can be felt by the graceful way the author takes readers on a journey to forgiveness. Can Titus learn to trust again? Will Abbie be able to forgive? Will Titus experience forgiveness and be set free from his past? Be sure and grab a copy of this well written story that allows us a glimpse of what forgiveness, trust and unconditional love is. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. The review is my own opinion and I was not compensated for it. inga recensioner | lägg till en recension

Amy writes with a lot of emotion and you cannot help but feel it also as Titus struggles with his feelings and how to deal with them. Her attention to detail when describing the Oklahoma landscape is breathtaking so much so you feel like you are there.
I truly enjoyed reading this emotional story by Amy and I felt it was her best one yet.
