This story serves as a great lesson for many people who are into fishing and nature. A little boy and his father embark on a journey to go down the Amazon River. While the family usually fishes to feed themselves, the story takes a turn when Paulo, a young boy, finds beauty in the fish and decides to keep the fish in the river. This story has an amazing lesson on life. Another well executed thing I liked about this story was the illustrations. When the mood of the story is dark, the illustrator uses dark colors to set the mood. When the mood and tone is bright and joyful, we notice bright colors being used. Finally, the dialect in this story really gives it that extra edge. It is easy to see yourself in this story because of the conversation. I enjoyed this story. ( ) I liked reading this book because of the combination of vivid illustrations and the main idea/main message of the book. This book teaches students that although nature supplies us with what we need to survive, we should only take what we need rather than be greedy and take everything. This book also touches on the fact that The main character, Paolo, realizes this when he catches a really big "filhote" (fish) and then releases it back into the water. I think this book teaches students to not be greedy but it also gives them a different view of life in the Amazon. Most students wouldn't think that people live in the Amazon rainforest, but this book shines light on that concept. It allows students to see the lives that people live when in a different environment, such as the Amazon rainforest. The illustrations help demonstrate that point to the students and allow them to visually see the differences in their lives versus the people that live in places similar to the Amazon rainforest. inga recensioner | lägg till en recension
