Look, Look! is a board book that would be suitable for newborns and infants. The high-contrast images keep the baby's attention, while 2-3 words written in large red text allow it to be read like a book without becoming overwhelming. This allows the book to be the first introduction to reading, though I preferred opening to a random page and letting the baby take it all in without distraction. It's a good book for tummy time. Recommended age: 0-6 months Writing style: Simple 2-3 words per page. Lexile range (unofficial): 10L - 200L Decoding difficulty: 1/5 Vocabulary difficulty: 1/5 Sentences difficulty: 1/5 Patterns difficulty: 4/5 Illustration style: Black and white silhouettes on high-contrast backgrounds. Reality-based: Mostly. The objects are things a baby sees in real life (cat, fish, stars), except the giant smiling sun! I also like that there is a baby's face and hands because these seem more attractive to babies. This is a great infant book I read it this week to the infant that in my daycare and he liked the pictures and he liked the words. I think it wanted to put it in mouth more. I personally thought it was great nice clear pictures along with words and it was short for an infant to keep their attention. Look, Look! is a board book intended for the very youngest of audiences. The illustrations are bold black-and-white patterns, with red text on the cover. Since young babies are drawn to those colors, this is a great book to use to introduce infants to the world of reading. The text is sparse, with simple three or four word phrases that explain the pictures on each spread. Though simple, the illustrations do grab the eye; I especially like how Linenthal sometimes reverses the color scheme down half the page, so that the areas that were black on one side are white on the other, and vice versa. The idea is to draw attention to the pictures and the pages, and provide visually stimulating material for young readers. I bought this as a book for my youngest girl, and was surprised to discover that my three-year-old likes reading it, too. (Although for her, it is more about identifying the objects in each page, as her language skills are just beginning to blossom.) I like having a few books of the black-and-white variety in my library, and if you are like me and want some on hand, this is a good title to choose. inga recensioner | lägg till en recension
