Sir Cumference and Lady Di discover "Fracton numbers" while purchasing cloth and cheese at the Fracton Faire. While twofourths may seem like the same as one-half, in truth it denotes two parts of one-half, or two quarters of the whole. But the real mystery is the fact that items at the fair keep disappearing, and Sir C, Lady Di, and the Earl of Fracton must set a numeric trap for the thief, teaching an important lesson along the way about the comparative size of fractions. Puns-both literal and visual-abound in this fun adventure story with beloved characters and a solid pedagogical foundation.… (mer)

Great book to introduce fractions to your students. It was great pictures throughout the story and is great for 3rd- 5th and may be able to get away with it in the middle grades for a review. A fun way to start a lesson and can even have students try to make their own little storyline with some of the key vocabulary words in this book. ( )

This book is a great book to get your students to look at fractions in an exciting way. The book takes place in medieval times and at a Fracton Faire. Sir Cumference, along with Lady Di of Ameter are visiting a good friend the Earl of Fracton. They are enjoying the fair when they realize that goods are being stolen from the shopkeepers. Even the Earl's sheep are missing. The Earl decides to use Fracton numbers to catch the thieves because outsiders don't know how to read them properly. When Lady Di was looking for items to purchase, she was told that she could buy all or part of the fabric, and it was great that when she asked what the numbers meant the shopkeepers would tell her that the fracton numbers were used to measure equal pieces of something.

I would recommend this book as I'm an avid lover of the entire Sir Cumference series of books. It also is a great way to connect real-life applications for students in a way that they will stay engaged and excited about it. ( )

I haven't read this book yet, but after hearing a classmate's review on the book I really want to. This book is a good book to introduce fractions to your students in a fun way. This book gives good examples of fractions while also giving a funny twist on the character's name being Sir Cumference instead of circumference. I would definitely use this book in my classroom to review fractions. ( )

Sir Fracton and Lady Di of Ameter go to the kingdom of Fracton and learn all about fractions by participating in their annual festival. The duo learn about numerators, denominators, and how to compare fractions all while helping the Earl of Fracton solve the mystery as to who is stealing from his people. Although this seems to be a rather juvenile picture book, the content would be a great refresher for middle grades students talking about comparing fractions with different denominators. This book talks through some common misconceptions all while entertaining the audience with a story of mischief and medieval fun. ( )

Sir Cumference and Lady Di of Ameter visit their friend, the earl of Fracton at the Fracton Faire. As they are shopping, the merchants realized that they are missing some product. Every merchant at the faire was missing some of their goods. They realize that the goods were in fact stolen. Sir Cumference, Lady Di, and the Earl of Fracton decided to use fraction number to catch the thieves. I would implement this book in my classroom as and introduction to fractions. ( )
