This was a fun sequel to Sunny Side Up. I don’t think it was good. It was straightforward instead of jumping back and forth in time like the previous book. It spans a year and the major conflict is her brother trying to get help for his addiction and bad behavior. But that is the underlying depressing story. It’s also about a new neighbor moving in, learning something new like band flags, and making new friends. I did like this book, but I thought book one was better.

I am really loving this series. I like that it is teaching young children how to handle life when a family member has a drug problem. Sunny is so bright and has a great heart. Great series and the art is wonderful. ( )

September 1976, Pennsylvania. (I was 2 months away from my 7th birthday!)
Lots of memories in this for me - General Hospital, Swamp Thing, Six Million Dollar Man, Donny & Marie - all gave me a smile! Heck, I even gave my daughter a Pet Rock a few years ago!
And that same daughter, who started middle school this year, really related to how Sunny feels about school! It is a good read, full of real emotions and the highs and lows of that age. Her feelings about her brother's situation read like a true story. I liked it and she liked it, so check it out! ( )

Swing It, Sunny is a book about a girl named Sunny who is in middle school. The book takes place in 1976-1977 in Pennsylvania. In the book, Sunny has a big brother named Dale who is sent to an army boarding school because when he is at home he does not so good things. Sunny has a grandfather that lives in Florida and comes up to visit Sunny and her Family during February of 1977. In the story Sunny is worried about her brother and hopes that he changes. Around the end of winter, in the story, Sunny gets a new neighbor who is in high school and is a flag twirler. Towards the end of the story, Sunny learns to twirl flags.

I like this book because to me it is kind of heart-warming. I also like the way the illustrator drew the characters. I also like this book because it gives the reader hope that things will get better for the main character. This book is also a comic which is my favorite type of book! I also love how the plot of this story works. To me, this book is an amazing book. I recommend reading this book for yourself one day. ( )

This is the second book of the wonderful character Sunny. I love that it is dated back in the Seventies because it brings so many great memories when I grew up back then. Plus it's in PA which is even more awesome! Hello flashback of a trip to the Poconos! Anyway, Sunny is back in school and hanging with her friend but still misses her brother who is in boarding school. There are a few things Sunny learns as well as her brother. Always a good story right til the end. ( )
