I would use this book with students from Kinder through 3rd grade. I would teach my students about the importance of friendship and how some conflicts may interfere in our friendships. I would teach them about talking about any issues in our friendships and how we can resolve those conflicts. This book is also about forgiveness to continue our relationships with others. ( )

I really enjoyed looking at the pictures in this book and trying to understand the characters. Based on the illustrations, this book is about two boys who draw two lines that form one and begin playing with it. One boy tangles the other in it and he gets angry, ultimately leading to them both pulling on the line, creating a crack between them. Once the crack is formed, they are still yelling at each other, until one boy goes over and starts to fix the crack. They both end up fixing it and walking off into what appears to be the sun. I think this book would be good for older primary students who could talk about symbolism throughout the book.

I'm not entirely sure how I feel about this book with no words. It was certainly unique and did well communicating its story through illustration. ( )

This is a great wordless book for children to imagine the meaning of the story. I know the children would love this book, and it challenges their brains. These two boys are drawing a line it can be made out of string, chalk, etc. The lines that they made were tangled and one of the boys gets knocked down for playing with the line. The boys were battling, it's like a tug of war just pulling the string back and forth, then a huge crack came between them. They resolve the situation by shading in the cracks. Then they both came together and played. I believe the theme is a collaboration because the two boys found a way to get back together again by filling in the crack between them. ( )
