I do find the snippets of his western fiction much more interesting than his adventure yarns. I especially found reading some of the beginnings to his science fiction and mysticism efforts uninteresting for me. ( ) lamour | Jan 13, 2018 | While JRR Tolkien has had a wider influence on the international world, Louis L'Amour's work has been equally influential in a smaller arena. I am a fan of each. Beau L'Amour is a more engaging narrator than Christopher Tolkien, something I attribute to the great difference in their ages and the different literary traditions in which they work. I greatly prefer Mr. Tolkien's convention of referring to "my father" over Mr. L'Amour referring to his father sometime as "my father" and other times as "Louis". I found "Louis L'Amour's Lost Treasures" interesting as an insight into Louis L'Amour's work habits and I certainly wish that he had finished some of these stories which, based on the fragments, would have been good. But I found the book as a whole unsatisfying simply because they are fragments. I find the Tolkien fragments unsatisfying too. I don't think this book is worth much effort unless you are a collector.
