It is engaging and the illustrations clearly reflect what is happening in the story. This book is a great tool to show how children can better understand other children's feelings. This book was great! I feel as though it is perfect for the world we are currently living in and it exemplifies truth and respect. There are many lessons that can be learned from this book and I feel as though many could benefit from the lessons. Another wonderful story by Pat Zietlow Miller that teaches kids to be kind. We are all different, but one thing is the same, we all want to be treated kindly and with respect. This book touches upon kindness and how it makes a BIG impact and goes a long way. Oh, and it can be contagious, too. This book is awesome. Two little girls of a different race become friends after one is shamed and got her feelings hurt. The other little girl ponders what being kind means, how to be kind, why we should be kind and then she does a kind gesture. inga recensioner | lägg till en recension
When Tanisha spills grape juice all over her new dress, her classmate contemplates how to make her feel better and what it means to be kind. From asking the new girl to play to standing up for someone being bullied, this moving and thoughtful story explores what a child can do to be kind, and how each act, big or small, can make a difference or at least help a friend. This book is all about kindness. It starts off by a little girl named Tanisha spilling grape juice on her clothes. The girl narrating the book wants to be kind because others are laughing. She says "purple is my favorite color". She begins to think about what kindness is and how we show our kindness to others. She gives many examples that show kindness. Giving, helping, complements, time, proper names and manners. She also talks about how kindness can sometimes be hard even when we know its the right thing to do. She gives the example of having patience and standing up for others. Small acts of kindness make a big difference. In the end of the story she painted Tanisha a purple picture and Tanisha hung it in her bedroom.
This is a great book to use as a read aloud. This is an awesome book to use in the classroom. I really enjoyed it because it teaches kindness and teaches how we might do kind things for others. It gave examples that students can use at school and at home. It also teaches students other things like manners and giving. I would use this in my classroom in the first week when I am going over expectations. I would explain why kindness is so important and that it is one of my classroom rules. I would read this book to allow students to learn more and get ideas of how to show kindness to one another.
