Listening to My Body by Gabi Garcia is an interactive and engaging book that teach students about sensations in the body. I am using this book to teach a student to become aware of his/her body and react to the sensation. This book is a very gentle approach to becoming aware of your own feelings. I love that fact that it is interactive, which is particularly helpful for my student who has a short attention span. Engaging activities included feeling your heartbeat for 15 seconds, and then repeating the same activity after jumping down for 15 seconds. Another activity is tracing the lines in your palms to give yourself a tickle sensation. I think this book is a great resource for teachers and students who struggle with regulating sensations in their bodies, but I do believe this book is a little long especially for my student who has a shorter attention span than most. inga recensioner | lägg till en recension
"Listening to My Body is an engaging and interactive picture book that introduces children to the practice of paying attention to their bodies. Through a combination of story, and simple experiential activities, it guides them through the process of noticing and naming their feelings and the physical sensations that accompany them so that they can build on their capacity to engage mindfully, self-regulate and develop a deeper sense of well-being."-- Inga biblioteksbeskrivningar kunde hittas. |

From wiggly and squirmy to rested and still, Listening to My Body helps children develop a "sensations" vocabulary so that they can express what they are experiencing.
