As I read through the first decade of Peanuts, I was struck by how many of these strips aren't funny or even intended to be so. Instead, it is the day to day life and quirks of the characters. Yes, sometimes it is very funny, but sometimes I just shake my head because I don't really understand what Schulz is trying to say. There are also contradictions. Sometimes Patti and Violet love to tell Charlie Brown how awful he is, but other times he is walking along having a normal conversation with one of them. It also appears that Charlie Brown's baseball team wasn't always so awful; they even make it to the championship game a couple of times. Still, this is a great way to pass a few minutes reading a few pages while spending some time in the smallest room of your house. But I think the best is yet to come. ( )
