"In the new novel from the bestselling author of Final Girls, The Last Time I Lied follows a young woman as she returns to her childhood summer camp to uncover the truth about a tragedy that happened there fifteen years ago. Two Truths and a Lie. The girls played it all the time in their tiny cabin at Camp Nightingale. Vivian, Natalie, Allison, and first-time camper Emma Davis, the youngest of the group. The games ended when Emma sleepily watched the others sneak out of the cabin in the dead of night. The last she--or anyone--saw of them was Vivian closing the cabin door behind her, hushing Emma with a finger pressed to her lips. Now a rising star in the New York art scene, Emma turns her past into paintings--massive canvases filled with dark leaves and gnarled branches that cover ghostly shapes in white dresses. The paintings catch the attention of Francesca Harris-White, the socialite and wealthy owner of Camp Nightingale. When Francesca implores her to return to the newly reopened camp as a painting instructor, Emma sees an opportunity to try to find out what really happened to her friends. Yet it's immediately clear that all is not right at Camp Nightingale. Already haunted by memories from fifteen years ago, Emma discovers a security camera pointed directly at her cabin, mounting mistrust from Francesca and, most disturbing of all, cryptic clues Vivian left behind about the camp's twisted origins. As she digs deeper, Emma finds herself sorting through lies from the past while facing threats from both man and nature in the present. And the closer she gets to the truth about Camp Nightingale, the more she realizes it may come at a deadly price"--… (mer)

I enjoyed Final Girls, but I LOVED The Last Time I Lied. I literally could not put it down and walk away. It wasn’t the actually story necessarily, but it was all about how it was told and the way you thought you had it figured out just to have another twist thrown at you. Well done! ( )

Some thrillers can be predictable, but this one was suspenseful until the very last page. I recommend it to everyone and usually tell them "you're going to think you know what happens, but you don't" ( )

This book has All. The. Twists!!!! The rollercoaster continued all the way down to the last few pages! Well crafted and crafty, this is what a plot should be. Will definitely be reading more by this author! ( )

This book!! I have read a lot of "psychological thriller" type books and I think I can be hard to please with them. I tend to find them way too gruesome or pretty predictable. The Last Time I Lied ended up being the perfect balance of suspense and darkness and while I thought I knew what happened several times I was totally shocked by the ending. I loved that it was based at a girls summer camp and the scene was set so perfectly. I loved the writing style and how it jumped back and forth with dual timelines of 15 years ago and today. The narrative worked perfectly to portray the stories of a group of teenage girls at a summer camp where things go terribly wrong. I like that it was an easy read and that it was fast paced enough to keep in interested as there were some twists and turns but not enough to be totally confusing. I know some people might say that the ending was just too unbelievable and it that it would never happen, but I think that's the best part about these types of books. Totally engrossing and the perfect type of easy and addicting ready to fly through on the weekend or take on a relaxing vacation. ( )

I had not ready Riley Sager's debut, THE FINAL GIRLS, though I really want to now, after finishing THE LAST TIME I LIED! Really well done.

At a summer camp for wealthy adolescents, three girls go missing, never to be seen again. One of the campers was greatly affected by this tragedy. When she is asked, 10 years later, to come back for one summer and help open up the camp again, she agrees, hoping to get some closure. But there are a number of lies by all parties involved that will come to light in this great thriller, and it's one that surprised me a number of times! Highly recommended.
