Josie expects Denton PD to revoke her suspension, what with personnel and resources stretched thin over the investigation. Even though she stumbles on to two crime scenes that seem connected to Isabelle's disappearance, Josie is still under suspension, forcing her to start following her own leads. Her coworkers seem to be too quick in their dismissal of Josie's theories and questions, alarming her further. Vanishing Girls is an action packed thriller with engaging twists and turns and emotions. Josie is every bit a lone wolf cop trope- head strong, no-nonsense, answers to her own sense of morality, and indulges her penchant for alcohol very often. When the story opens, Josie Quinn has been suspended from her job as a detective for the Denton, Pennsylvania police force. Yet she involves herself in the cases of some missing girls. This seemed a stretch to me, so I did not have high expectations for the rest of this novel.
But Regan proved me wrong. Quinn finds mystery after mystery after mystery. And the case of the vanishing girls, she finds, is convoluted. Almost no one is who they seem to be, most particularly the police.
VANISHING GIRLS is the first in a series about Quinn. There are more, so you can binge if you have not already done so. (
