Move over, Charlotte Brontë. The authors of the New York Times bestselling My Lady Jane are back with an irreverent spin on Jane Eyre--a tale of mischief, romance, and supernatural mayhem perfect for fans of The Princess Bride or A Gentleman's Guide to Vice and Virtue. You may think you know the story. Penniless orphan Jane Eyre begins a new life as a governess at Thornfield Hall, where she meets one dark, brooding Mr. Rochester--and, Reader, she marries him. Or does she? Prepare for an adventure of Gothic proportions, in which all is not as it seems, a certain gentleman is hiding more than skeletons in his closets, and one orphan Jane Eyre, aspiring author Charlotte Bronte, and supernatural investigator Alexander Blackwood are about to be drawn together on the most epic ghost hunt this side of Wuthering Heights.… (mer)

Not the worse book ever, but I was severely let down by how bad it was in comparison to My Lady Jane. The plot did not get interesting until chapter 23 and I didn't laugh until page 318. And even then it was more of an "I'd never thought of that before/I can't believe they actually did that!" instead of an oh so funny. Also, I don't feel like they did [b: Jane Eyre|10210|Jane Eyre|Charlotte Brontë|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1327867269s/10210.jpg|2977639] much justice. The classic has a special place in my heart and this was just not the retelling I was hoping for. ( )

It is really hard to not compare this to My Lady Jane, which I loved and adored. With My Plain Jane, I felt like the authors were trying a bit too hard to capture the humor they had achieved with their first book.

I liked the new twist to Jane Eyre, and thought it was rather clever. I think if this had been a serious book, I would have liked it a lot better. For me, much of humor either didn't do much for me, or just plain fell flat.

There was also that weird cameo of Jane and Gifford that was really out of place since it was obvious that the two books existed in two different worlds, despite being in the same series. Ghosts here, instead of animal shape shifters. ( )

Almost just as good as book 1 - I was super partial to Gifford so I guess I liked it less, but it was funny and cute and the ghost hunting was cool to read - their "history" was great too - I guess is the only way that I get my history lessons lol - I can't wait for the next Janie story.

I was actually shocked at one point in this book (I bet you know which) like, I didn't see that coming at all - so interesting and intriguing - I felt it did have some repeat scenes/excessive talk sometimes which I found to be "filler material" but it wasn't overdone - though I felt the book could have been streamlined a bit ( )

Certainly liked it better than the source material! Perhaps not quite as fun as My Lady Jane, but still a great listen. And I'm so excited for the third installment! ( )

It was good but not an instant favourite like My Lady Jane (loved the cameo).
I'm happy that Jane and Mr Rochester is still a thing in this book.
The story moved a bit fast but maybe it's because I read Jane Eyre before this.. Although I undrestand why things needed to happen in days instead of months like in Jane Eyre.
Overall a great funny read but not one of my favorites like My Lady Jane. ( )

For everyone who's ever fallen for the wrong person, even though we agree that Mr. Darcy looks good on paper . . . and in a wet shirt.

And for England (again). We're really sorry for what we're about to do to your literature.

You may think you know the story.

Oh, heard that one have you? Well, we say again: you may think you know the story. By all accounts it's a good one: a penniless, orphaned young woman becomes a governess in a wealthy household, catches the eye of the rich and stern master, and (sigh) falls deeply in love.

If there was something strange in your neighborhood, you could, um, write the Society a letter, and they would promptly send an agent to take care of it.
But she was a writer, so while she did get this moment of thinking herself somewhat brilliant, it would soon be offset by a crippling doubt that she had a gift of words at all. Such is the way with all writers. Trust us.
The person who possesses the creative gift owns something of which she is not always the master - something that at times strangely wills and works for itself.
