( ) 1443 Obermann Selections From Letters To a Friend (Volume One), by Etienne Pivert de Senancour Chosen and translated by Jessie Peabody Frothingham (read 6 Apr 1977) This book annoyed because it was not a full translation of the book Senancour wrote, but it is full of dreamy quotables some of which I recorded in my post-reading note. My attraction to Obermann is due to Matthew Arnold and his poems in regard to his memory of him. 1444 Obermann Selections From Letters To A Friend (Volume Two), by Etienne Pivert de Senancour Chosen and Translated by Jessie Peabody Frothingham (read 9 Apr 1977) This is the second volume and again I was struck by the language. If you can't find a copy of the book, reading Matthew Arnold's poems "Obermann" and "Obermann Once More" is the next best thing. inga recensioner | lägg till en recension
