The kitten nobody wanted: Mia still hasn't got over her cat's death two months ago-- she had Sandy for as long as she can remember. But one day, just before Christmas, she finds out that her friend's cat has had kittens. Over the holidays she goes round to play with them. Is Mia ready to welcome a new kitten into her life? The frightened kitten: Maddie can't wait until her kitten tortoiseshell kitten Cookie is old enough to go out in the yard. Before long, Cookie is able to venture outside. She loves being in the yard, but there are two neighborhood cats that are always trying to chase her away. Soon, Cookie is too scared to go out and spends most of her time hiding under Maddie's bed. Can Maddie find a way to help Cookie feel brave enough to play outside again? The stray kitten: Rosie loves visiting the barn cats that live on the farm near her grandmother's house. Her favorite is a kitten she calls Ginger because of her beautiful orange fur. Slowly Ginger learns to trust Rosie. Then the farm is sold, and workers begin tearing down the buildings to put up new ones. The other cats are taken to a rescue shelter for adoption, but Ginger hides and now is all alone.
