This book tells a tale of two siblings and PJ the older brother is constantly teasing and playing tricks on his little sister, Honey Bunny. She is patient and puts up with all of his tricks. Tricks like pouring orange juice on her cereal or painting her face at night time. The parents finally had enough of PJ’s tricks and teases and made it all stop. Things were normal and Honey Bunny felt sad and lonely because she missed him and thought he didn’t love her anymore.

SUMMARY: Honey Bunny Funnybunny is constantly teased by her big brother. However, the day her brother decides to leave her alone, Honey Bunny begins to feel that something is missing.

REVIEW: This book has a confusing message; on one hand, it is a fact that Honey Bunny is annoyed by her brother's constant teasing. However, the moment that he stops teasing her, she feels as if he has disappeared from her life. To me, this sends a conflicting message that Honey Bunny loves her brother BECAUSE he teases her, and that is the main interaction between them. When Honey Bunny's brother leaves to play with his friend, Honey Bunny, "...sat down by the window. She did not want to paint. She did not want to play dolls...She sat and sat and waited for [her brother] to come home." Yet the only way her brother acknowledges her and brings her out of this slump is to begin teasing her again. I feel as though young children will be entertained by the funny pictures, and the wording of the story is easy to read, but "Honey Bunny Funnybunny" lacks the essential element of a solid plot that would hold a child's interest for a long time. Honey bunny's brother always picks on her and she doesn't like it. One day she told her mother and he got in trouble and never picked on her again. Honey bunny didn't like that her brother wasn't picking on her anymore and she wished he would. He ignored her everytime he saw her she didn't think he loved her anymore. Until one day he painted her face and they were back to normal. ( )

This book was really funny because while Honey Bunny's brother was picking on her, she would get mad and wish he would stop. But when he finally gets in trouble and stops, she realizes how much she actually misses her brother picking on her. She was sad and lonely without him and thought he didn't love her anymore, until one day he painted her face in her sleep again and she was happy. You could have your class share things their siblings do to pick on them or things they do to their siblings. ( )
