This book follows a lighthouse keeper as he works hard to keep the lighthouse going. His family is with him and they work through struggles and getting sick. One day, the Coast Guard comes and tells them that they have a new light for the lighthouse that doesn't need people to run it. The keeper and his family pack up their stuff and leave the lighthouse. This could be a good read-out-loud for 1st or 2nd grade to talk about what a lighthouse keeper is and dedication to a job. 1. I would recommend this book to any age. 2. In this book there is a man who works at a lighthouse all alone. This is an older lighthouse so it is not automated so the lighthouse watcher has to put oil in the lighthouse and take care of it so ships don't crash. A ship once crashed and he saved them. Then his wife shows up and they have a kid and live together in the lighthouse. Then in the end the lighthouse becomes functional by themselves and he ends up living on the main land. 3.I would highly recommend this book. It demonstrates how changes happen as well as how much nicer it is when you work with friends around you and many other lessons woven into the story. This book would be good for primary students. This book is "Hello Lighthouse" written and illustrated by Sophie Blackwell, published in 2018. This book is about a reassuring lighthouse that says hello to all of the boats passing by. It tells about the family that lives in the lighthouse and how they help the boats when they are in trouble, or when it is foggy, or when it is stormy, etc. I would use this in my classroom to teach my kids about lighthouses or just to have a fun lighthearted book in my class. It has a lot of descriptive words in it that could help with kids writing. This book is a good 1st or 2nd grade book because it has a simple story line with very well drawn pictures on every page. The book is about a lighthouse keeper who tends the lighthouse day and night. The book has a repetitive sense because it talks about what the keeper does in his day but adds on new things every page. The keepers wife comes to the lighthouse, he gets sick, his wife gets pregnant and has a kid. At the end of the book the keeper and his family receive a letter which turns out to be the coastguard coming to install a new light that wouldn't require the services of the keeper any more. So the keeper and his family move back the main land and live their life on shore. This book can be used to explain some history to younger kids, in a fun way. What lighthouses are and what they were used for, and what life might have looked liked being a keeper of one. inga recensioner | lägg till en recension
