The thing about this book that I think is so great is that it lets children know that it's okay to feel emotions, even negative ones. The monkey doesn't know why he is grumpy, but he is, and he even tries to deny it multiple times. At the end of the day, though, he realizes he already feels much better just by admitting that he's having a grumpy day and that that's okay. I think this is a great lesson for children to learn, and it really gets them to reflect upon, acknowledge, and adress their emotions. ( ![]() This book is a great mix of hilarity and being an enjoyable read for young students, but balances that with an important message. The story explains the importance of being true to your feelings, and not hiding them by putting on a happy face. Young readers will come away, not only entertained, but also with a much better understanding that people need to be allowed to feel their feelings. I really appreciate that the two authors write this book about an important message, but still are able to wrap it in a hilarious and entertaining story for young readers. The book is well illustrated, and the storyline is easy to follow and understand for primary students. Jim is having a grumpy day. His friends don’t know why he has to be in a grumpy mood on such a beautiful day. They just don’t understand and keep trying to cheer him up. I really enjoyed this book. I loved the illustrations, especially Jim's grumpy face. I think this shows kids that it okay to have bad days. It's okay to have feelings. We don’t have to be happy all of the time. I can definitely identify with Grumpy Monkey. This book can be used to help students understand that is okay to feel grumpy or upset and how to deal with that. They can even write about a time they felt grumpy after reading this book. Recommended by ? "Jim Panzee" wakes up to discover that "nothing was right," but he insists to all that he isn't grumpy. He follows their suggestions anyway, but it doesn't change how he feels. At last, he finds someone else to be grumpy with: "It's a wonderful day to be grumpy." Sometimes, you just need to be in the mood you're in. See also: Pom Pom Panda Gets the Grumps by Sophy Henn, The Rabbit Listened by Cori Doerrfeld inga recensioner | lägg till en recension
