Zoey the chicken rounds up her friends Sam the pig and Pip the mouse to go on vacation to the beach! Only it turns out the shore she has in mind in just the local pond -- but with some imagination, anything can be an adventure!

I enjoyed this book far more than the previous title I read in this "Zoey the Chicken" series. I think it was more obvious in this book that Zoey was just pretending that ordinary things were different so that she and her friends could have an extra special day.

Repetition of some words and phrases will help out the beginning reader, although there's enough going on here to make it more appropriate for those children who already have some confidence in reading aloud under their belts.

The illustrations complement the text nicely. ( )
