A beautiful story of reconciliation between a Japanese pilot and the city he attempted to bomb during WWII. TW: There is a brief mention that he had considered ritual suicide - check it out beforehand if your child would be sensitive to that. Primary-Int. This book covers a forgotten tale of a bomber pilot from Japan who dropped several bombs in Oregon, though they did little damage. Years after the war, the town invited him to visit in celebration and reconciliation. Through this the town and the pilot became connected. A very good story of WWII, Japanese values and this area. Would be wonderful in a history lesson, or to talk about reconciliation and multiculturalism. Thirty Minutes Over Oregon: A Japanese WWII Story was an interesting read about Nobuo Fujita, a Japanese pilot who served in WWII. The story tells a beautiful narrative of reconciliation between a man who served his country and the town that his service threatened. The story shows the true meaning of grace, forgiveness and understanding. I had never heard this story before and I am grateful that there is content like this out there. Thirty Minutes Over Oregon was an intriguing read for sure. This picture book biography took place after America joined World War II and is about Nobuo Fujita, who is a Japanese pilot who failed to bomb a city in Oregon, twice. It was interesting to see an enemy's side of the war, and a quote from the story that sums this up is, "He was doing a job and we were doing a job." I thought this quote is powerful because it would be very easy for an American to read this story and be angered by Nobuo’s actions, but we got to see Nobuo’s version of events and the guilt that a lot of veterans, on either side, must feel after a war. inga recensioner | lägg till en recension
