Janell and Alyssa are best-friends-turned-rivals, but when Alyssa's health takes a turn for the worst, Janelle learns she may be the one person who can save Alyssa's life.

Janelle and Alyssa were best friends until they weren't. Yet, when Alyssa collapses into a diabetic coma and her prognosis is grim without a kidney transplant, it is Janelle that decides to become the donor.

Sorry Not Sorry is Janelle and Alyssa's story, the story of friendship then frenemyship. Alyssa is proud and doesn't want people to know of her disease and pity her or consider her fragile. While they are not friends, their history makes them care deeply about each other.

Add to the story that Janelle is Black and Alyssa is white, and you've added a whole other element.

The characters are really good and the story line, as well. The only flaw in the story is that the main characters are high school seniors and while all of this is going on, we know they should be worrying about college and the years beyond high school. Yet, the author chose to ignore this fact.

All in all, Sorry not Sorry is a good read. ( )
