Excellent. This is a wonderful, yet heartwrenching book about Ms. ten Boom's life from a peaceful childhood to a tumultuous adulthood – experiencing the horrors of the Nazi occupation of Holland. The book is convicting: such bravery was shown in the face of face of evil. Yet, it is also real in that this bravery was marked with fear, faith in the Savior, and holding onto hope. Read it. I can’t overstate the power of this book. It’s the true story of a woman who hid Jews in her Holland home during WWII. Despite the danger that meant for her family, she defied the Nazi rulers and stood for what was right. Her unbelievable bravery in the midst of persecution was so humbling. I couldn’t put it down. I loved how honest she was about her moments of doubt and frustration. I was blown away by the risks they were willing to take for others. There’s nothing I can say that all the 5 star ratings here haven’t already said. So I’ll just add that Bernadette Dunne's reading of the christianaudio audiobook version is worthy of 5 stars in itself. Her tone of voice fully conveys the devotion and empathy behind Corrie ten Boom’s inspiring words. I don't know why I've never read this book before now. What a book! I can no longer complain about my headaches and migraines and gout and sore back, eye infections and hurting feet. What this women endured, what her family did, the risks, the punishment, the shear agony of her life all for doing good, loving God and serving others. If you haven't read this, please read it. It will make a difference in your life. I listened to the audiobook, and it was excellent, unabridged and well narrated. inga recensioner | lägg till en recension
