Koi is back home in the land of coffee. Finish review later. ( )Det här är en av LibraryThings förhandsrecensioner. Koi Pierce has just recently discovered that she is half-baku, the daughter of a human woman and a Japanese dream eater; someone who can devour the dreams of others just by touching them. She is still trying to understand her place among the Kind, ancient mythical beings and their half-human children. She has just returned from her trip to Japan with her father in a coma and her relationship with her Kitsune boyfriend, Ken, on shaky ground. Kwaskwi, the trickster leader of the Portland Kind, demands her help in solving the murder of an ancient and powerful Kind and the attacks on other Kind. Mysterious messages are left at the scene of the attacks which seem to point to someone targeting a dream eater. Koi has to find out who is targeting the Kind if she wants to have any chance to truly learn who she is and how to live with her new-found powers. Last Dream of her Mortal Soul is the 3rd book in the Portland Hafu series. While it is helpful to have read the earlier books (there are a lot of characters to keep straight) it isn’t necessary to enjoy this book. I appreciated the author mixing mythological beings from many traditions, including Japan, Europe and the First Nations of the West Coast. I am familiar with these mythologies and enjoyed seeing these different mythical beings interacting. I also liked the way the author used Portland as the setting. The character of Portland came through and added to the story. She included the recent problems with right wing “Proud Boy” type groups as part of the plot. I think I would have enjoyed the novel a bit more if Koi had been a stronger character. It was a bit hard to understand why the other characters seemed to admire her so much since I found her a bit whiny and unconfident. I would recommend this novel to readers who enjoy urban fantasy with some romance and a rich background in mythology. Det här är en av LibraryThings förhandsrecensioner. I really enjoyed these books, read all three and although the second wasn't my favorite and the eating dreams process itself left me a tiny bit confused I very much liked the characters and thought they were amazingly developed. Lots of interesting things going on and all sorts of gods and goddesses & minor and major characters from different societies. She kept all the balls in the air better than most authors I have read. The main character was well formed and grew in all ways in the three books, the romance wasn't in your face and I really liked that. Would read anything else by this author, she did a fine job on this series. Det här är en av LibraryThings förhandsrecensioner. This was an amazing book. I thought I had the story figured out based on the title but was totally taken by surprise by the events presented by Lincoln's masterful creative imagination and style. inga recensioner | lägg till en recension
Even a dream eater can't escape the final sleep¿After her trip to Japan, Koi is called home to Portland to help solve a murder. The body of a powerful magical being was found in the witch's hut in Forest Park along with a haunting, strange quotation about dreams and death that seems to be calling out a Baku. Can Koi figure out who is targeting Kind in Portland before others from her new-found family die? Inga biblioteksbeskrivningar kunde hittas. |
