Ethan loves magic and is good enough to perform at kids parties. His idol is Magnus the Magnificent and Ethan has the opportunity to compete at Magic Fest for a chance to meet him. He has two younger brothers: Freddy assists him at his magic shows; Jake is 2 years old and has an unspecified disability related to brain damage. Jake's extended care is the focus of the family, although Ethan can occasionally get one-on-one time with one of his parents. Ethan doesn’t resent Jake’s position; he loves his brother and is active in his care. But when Jake worsens and has to go into intensive care, Ethan may not get to go to Magic Fest. Warm portrayal of a family supporting each other, brotherly love, example of caring for and loving a child with special needs. (
