As such, the first part of the book intensively deals with the realities of farming in the United States in the early 1900s, it's interesting & does have some usual information in there. Unfortunately however, the book takes a turn for the bland and boring when around half way it suddenly veers into some sort of diatribe on how intensive industrial agriculture will save America and anyone who doesn't believe in increasing agriculture funding is a fool (whilst also stating too much federal money was being granted to the State agriculture colleges). In a word; boring.
It's probably fantastic information that's really hard to find if you are interested in the early political manoeuvrings relating to agriculture in America but for everyone else, I'd suggest another book to get your fill of early farming memoirs. Our Farm of Four Acres by Miss Coulton written in 1859 would be a good place to start for such. ( )
