An Australian wombat joins the Champs baseball team, and even though he is disastrously ignorant about the game, his innate talents save everyone when a tornado suddenly strikes.

This is a fantasy book about a wombat from Australia who comes to join a baseball team of other animals. The animals on the team are trying to teach the wombat the rules of baseball, but he keeps taking the idioms they say seriously, for instnace, when told to steal second base, he literally went over and picked it up off the ground and stole it. I think this book would be very good for the primary grade levels. It is very funny and intriguing, and kids can seem to relate to it aswell.

Fans of both Amelia Bedelia and Tacky the Penguin will enjoy this story of a Wombat who doesn't know how to play baseball, but does have another skill that proves very important to the team, and the opponents, and the fans.... ?áI sure giggled, and of course the ending is perfect. ( )
