America's favorite self-taught cook opens up about the most memorable moments of her life in this candid memoir-inspired cookbook featuring more than 125 all-new recipes. As her fiftieth birthday approached, Ray started thinking, not just about what to make for dinner, but how her passion for food and feeding people developed over a lifetime. Here she opens up about her family, and how they instilled in her a strong work ethic, problem solving skills, and overall love of cooking. The recipes range from all-time favorites to the unexpected, and peppered throughout is her kitchen and life wisdom, along with her philosophy on how we can better serve the world and each other. -- adapted from Amazon.com info.… (mer)

Rachael Ray was one of the first Food Network shows I watched. I loved her in the early years and then felt she was a little overexposed and annoying. But this book of recipes and essays made me appreciate her again. The recipes are fairly common but the essays were insightful. ( )

Rachael Ray at her culinary best! This wonderful work continues in the vein that made her famous, wonderful recipes yet easy to follow. Everything about this book is interesting.

Let’s be fair, this is much more than a cookbook! The memories are informative, and interesting to read. But, for me Rachael Ray is first and foremost about food. Therefore this book is all about the recipes for me. And, they live up to all my expectations when thinking of her.

Bottom line... great book! ( )
