One of the greatest needs of the church throughout the ages is to contemplate, know, and love Jesus Christ. This all-encompassing vision of the Christ promotes the spread of the gospel and the holiness of God's people, and yet it is often missing today. While one book cannot meet all the church's need in the vital area of Christology, the essays contained here helpfully redirect our gaze back to our Lord and Savior. Originally delivered at the 2018 Spring Theology Conference at Greenville Presbyterian Theological Seminary, David's Son and David's Lord provides pastors and church members with the key ideas surrounding the person of Christ. This is no isolated academic exercise. As the Puritan Isaac Ambrose (1604-1664) wrote, "The most excellent subject to discourse or write of, is Jesus Christ ... Indeed all we say is but unsavory, if it be not seasoned with this salt." Jesus Christ is also the most excellent subject to read about, to prayerfully savor, and to meditate upon. Doing so is the true path to joy and personal holiness in this life, and to eternal blessedness in the world to come. Every glimpse we catch of Christ brings heaven down to us, that we might long to appear in heaven where Christ is seated. Prayerfully reading these chapters will enrich your mind, as well as your longing for Christ. Book jacket.… (mer)
